Cameron Fleming founded Cameron Fleming & Associates Ltd in 2010 after a highly successful career spanning 25 years in Russell McVeagh, New Zealand's premier law firm.

 

Cameron's extensive experience in corporate advisory work, particularly in the area of mergers and acquisitions, has been recognised by peers nationally and internationally.

 

He has been involved in sectors ranging from forestry to shipping, and has advised on some of the major business transactions that have shaped New Zealand's business landscape.

 

Transaction experience includes:

  • Advising Fletcher Group on setting up Tasman Asia shipping line and acquiring NZ Orient shipping line.
  • New Zealand adviser to Baycorp on its merger with Data Advantage to create a credit reporting group with a combined value of A$1.5 billion.
  • New Zealand adviser to Suncorp-Metway on its merger with Promina Group to create an insurance group with a combined value of A$6.8 billion.
  • Advising Macquarie Bank and FKP on the takeover of Metlifecare for a consideration in excess of $300 million and advising on the subsequent selldown of the Retirement Villages Group by Macquarie Bank.
  • Acting for Veda Advantage on the sale of Baycorp Advantage Collection Services to Trans Tasman Collections, under a dual-tracked IPO and trade sale process, for approximately $100 million.
  • Acting for Norske Skog on the sale of its pulp mill to Carter Holt Harvey for $300 million.
  • Acting for Norske Skog on the construction of a geothermal power plant on its land by Mighty River Power and the entry into an agreement to take the output of the plant.
  • Advising Goldman Sachs JB Were (NZ) Limited on the creation of a Mezzanine Debt Private Equity Fund and the underwriting of cash issues by Fletcher Building Limited and PGG Wrightson.
  • Advising Ports of Auckland directors during the takeover by Auckland Regional Holdings.
  • New Zealand adviser to Macquarie Bank on its separation into banking and non banking subsidiaries, with Macquarie Group as the holding company.
  • Advising Winstone Pulp International on a co-gen facility with Meridian at its pulp mill in Ohakune and the selldown of Blue Mountain Lumber and Prime Sawmills.
  • Advising the Armacup Group on the establishment of a shipping joint venture with Wallenius Wilhelmsen and Eukor Car Carriers Inc.
  • Advising Blue Star Group on its sale of Rapid Labels.
  • Cameron has been listed in Best Lawyers in New Zealand publication since the 2009 edition.
